Harbor Links Golf Course was built in 1998 and consists of an 18-hole championship course, 9-hole executive course, 40-stall practice range, and an 18-hole miniature course. Designed by renowned golf course architect Dr. Michael Hurdzan, Harbor Links is a ‘Links’ style golf course built on reclaimed sand mines adjacent to Hempstead Harbor. The championship course measures 6927 yards from the championship tees, has a course rating of 73.2, a slope rating of 128 and a par of 72.
A large investment was made in the restoration of wet land with ornamental grasses and special insect tolerant grasses to reduce the need for pesticides. This helped Harbor Links receive the highly prestigious Audubon Signature Sanctuary Certification. Harbor Links became the first 27-hole and multi sport facility in the world as well as the 1st public facility in the State of New York.
While playing Harbor Links be sure to look for the Border Collie named ‘Kale’. She is responsible for controlling the geese on property. Kale is specially trained and will not bark, chase golf balls or disturb golfers or wildlife.
Under the guidance of Arnold Palmer Golf Management Harbor Links is a family facility that is dedicated to introducing golf to the youth of the community with a mission to serve its guests with quality, integrity and legendary service that are Mr. Palmer’s philosophy.
